Psychologist: $71,240.00 – $105,895.00 per annum

About the Opportunity
South Western Sydney Local Health District is seeking an open minded, empathetic and outgoing Adult Drug Court Clinician to join the experienced team.

This role requires a highly skilled communicator who can easily adapt to a range of situations. You will be dynamic with your communication styles and be comfortable with speaking to a range of stakeholders including Judges, Court Workers and Justice officers. You will be a highly collaborative individual who can bring an empathy and understanding to the role whilst maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and other stakeholders. Your negotiation skills will be at the forefront of the role and you will have strong report writing skills to aid you in your work.

Working with a vast variety of patients from those affected by drugs, to those with physical and mental health issues, you will be a compassionate and professional individual who has previous experience in such areas. You will be managing a case load of counselling clients who are engaged in a 12 month, long-term therapeutic intervention program. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and be involved in the treatment of drug and alcohol related issues. You will be skilled at providing counselling to clients from all walks of life and have an astute understanding their needs.

You will be joining a highly supportive team who are willing to develop your skills and ensure you are regularly supervised. Team Leader and Manager are always available to mentor and guide you in the role and ensure regular training and promotion opportunities. What You’ll be Doing 
The primary purpose of this position is to;

  • Provide assessments, evidence based interventions, case management and co-ordination of clinical and welfare interventions to Drug Court clients.
  • Provide written and oral reports for clients who remain under Court supervision throughout the program. 
  • Support the clinical operations of Court Diversion Programs across the LHD.   

The Drug Court is a special court based at Parramatta which supervises the community based rehabilitation of drug dependent offenders. Once accepted onto the program, clients are provided with relevant counselling, treatment and case management services. All clients must be referred through the court.

How to Apply

  1. Tertiary qualification as a Registered Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor, or Welfare Officer, which provides eligibility for membership with a professional organisation and or current registration with AHPRA where applicable.
  2. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, case management and counselling within a drug and alcohol service.
  3. Knowledge of the harm reduction approach to drug and alcohol issues and demonstrated experience in the provision of interventions with drug dependent client
