Family Violence Counsellor Anglicare Victoria

JOB DESCRIPTION

Your role:

The role will support the family services team with warm referrals to the Dolphin Program, offer single session work and provide family violence groupwork for clients from both Dolphin and family services.

The trial aims to identity new work streams for the Dolphin program with the aim of expanding the program and supporting family services clients to access therapeutic family violence recovery support.

The Family Violence Therapeutic Team can provide support to women and children 0-18 who have experienced Family Violence.

This may include:

• Individual counselling

• Mother and child counselling

• Group work

• Parent education

  • Fixed term to June 30th 2024 with the possibility of extension as we pilot the role for 6 months.
  • Join a therapeutic Family violence team providing groupwork, counselling, dyadic and individual work for mothers and children

 

How we approach the work:

The team has a trauma informed, feminist, strengths-based and child centred approach to working with survivors of family violence. The team aims to address the impact family violence can have on women and children, including on the mother/child relationship, child development and parenting capacity. We value working with mothers and children together to heal their relationship and strengthen their trust and connection

The Dolphin Program provides counselling & support to children 0-18 and their mothers who are no longer experiencing family violence. Dolphin aims to improve the attachment & relationship between children and their mother
