About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Rehabilitation and Reintegration, the Senior Clinician is responsible for the leadership, management, and supervision of a diverse team of clinical professionals who work with prisoners to reduce their risk of re-offending.

The Senior Clinician is responsible for coordinating and planning clinical service delivery across key service pathways for serious violent offenders, general offenders and drug and alcohol offenders. As an experienced practitioner, the Senior Clinician also maintains a small caseload of complex offenders. The Senior Clinician provides supervision, coaching and mentoring to clinicians to ensure ethical and responsive interventions that make a real difference in the lives of prisoners and their families.

A dynamic leader in the broader correctional environment, the Senior Clinician provides a respected and important interface with prison operations on issues related to offender rehabilitation and reintegration.

 

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will demonstrate following skills and experience:

  • Full registration as a Psychologist or Social Worker with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) or Australian Association of Social Work (AASW), respectively, or eligibility to do so.
  • Two or more years of experience as a registered practitioner completing assessments, individual and group interventions, in a correctional, clinical, or other relevant setting, preferably with mandated clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals including the provision of clinical supervision, guidance, and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, support and reinforce cross-agency consultation and collaboration in order to achieve shared goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently prepare and vet complex clinical reports.
  • An ability to communicate a clear vision, manage performance expectations, and ensure policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Membership of relevant Professional Bodies or organisations.
