This role presents a strong opportunity for the right candidate to develop a significant and specialised teaching portfolio in the field of Counselling. This is a teaching-focussed role which will allow you to build and apply your teaching expertise and profile.  

About the role:  

As a Lecturer of Master of Counselling, you will be responsible for the ongoing development, improvement, and delivery of the program, while ensuring compliance with the Higher Education Standards Framework. You will work to ensure that a high-quality, student-centric experience is provided. In this role, you will be expected to map to the units delivered in program. Staying abreast with current and emerging principles and best practices will play a key part to your success. Working from home during non-teaching hours is an option for this position.  

This is a permanent campus-based position in Melbourne with a 6-month probationary period. Work hours are 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

 The main duties and responsibilities of the role include:  

  • Develop and conduct face to face teaching and student engagement sessions and learning materials. 
  • Develop learning materials including study guides, webinars, and assessment instructions for assigned subjects.  
  • Provide study assistance to students in the following modes: face-to-face, via the LMS, over the phone, or via email. 
  • Encourage the engagement of students in their studies.
  • Marking student assessments in accordance with assessment and moderation policies. 
  • Identifying and liaising with students at risk and establishing individual learning plans as needed. 
  • Maintaining subject sites on the Learning Management System   

About you  

The successful applicant will ideally have:  

  • An ACA approved qualification at PhD level OR level 9 (Masters) and at least 5 years relevant teaching, research or professional experience in counselling (in the last ten years) OR completion of at least 2/3s of a relevant Doctorate or PhD (Level 10) plus relevant teaching, research or professional experience totalling 3 years.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of tertiary subject curricula and teaching materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and administer the successful delivery of tertiary subjects. 
  • Eligible for membership of the Australian Counselling Association.
