Location: Brisbane based with potential hybrid WFH

Status:  Multiple Permanent Part-Time Positions

Remuneration: SCHADS 4.1 ($41.94) + 11% superannuation + salary packing (available)

About your unique role

As a Triage Counsellor for the Sexual Violence Support Service, you will focus on providing high quality support to individuals who have been impacted by sexual violence and assault or have been identified as part of the Commission of Inquiry into Forensic DNA Testing in Queensland. Although no two days are the same, you can expect to assist inbound callers by providing crisis counselling, information, risk assessment and referral pathways to ongoing specialist counselling from either our own Specialist Counsellors or recommended external counselling services. The role works collaboratively with the Queensland Sexual Assault Network service, Queensland Police, and other community services. As part of the Sexual Violence Support Line, it is important that our practitioners maintain and build positive working relationships with external stakeholders to facilitate smooth referral pathways to all clients accessing our service.

Our Sexual Violence Support Line primarily engages and supports all people impacted by sexual violence and sexual assault, both recent and historical.  

This service line is open between 7:30 – 23:30, 7 days a week.

About you

  • Tertiary Qualification (minimum 3 years duration) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or relevant field – Required
  • Eligible or holds membership with one of the following bodies or profession – AASW, ACA, APS or PACFA would be desirable
  • Demonstrated understanding of intersectional feminist practice and how this is used as a framework to understand and respond to the gendered nature of violence against women and children
  • High level of resilience and self-care practices in place
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • High level of resilience and good self-care practices in place to support working in an environment that can be challenging and demanding at times.
  • Availability to do shifts between the hours of 7:30 to 23:30.
