Role Overview: As a Spiritual Care Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive spiritual care to residents, families, and staff within facility. Your responsibilities will include conducting spiritual assessments, developing care plans, offering counseling, and facilitating spiritual activities that cater to the diverse cultural and religious backgrounds of our community.
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills to engage with residents, families, and staff
- Proficiency in working with culturally diverse groups
- Demonstrated empathy, sensitivity, and community spirit
- Evidence of good standing within a faith community or equivalent reference
- Competence in providing effective and sensitive spiritual care
- Skills in spiritual assessment, counseling, and care plan development
- Collaborative team player with leadership qualities
- Ability to respond to spiritual care needs promptly and professionally
- Experience in diverse religious and cultural settings with sensitivity to multicultural issues
- Articulate and promote spiritual care in inter-professional and multi-faith environments
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Counselling, Social Sciences, or equivalent
- Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent (as per industry standards)
- Level 2 Spiritual Health Association capability framework (Level 3 for Senior Practitioner preferred)
- Certified Member level of Spiritual Care Australia (eligibility essential)
- Understanding of diverse cultures, beliefs, practices, and traditions
- Capability in leading public and informal rituals and services
- Knowledge of ageing, dementia, grief, loss, and palliative care in spiritual contexts
- Familiarity with Aged Care Quality Standards and Meaningful Ageing Australia Guidelines
Desirable Characteristics:
- Prior experience in spiritual care within an aged care setting
- Experience in leading and supporting teams, including volunteers
