JOB DESCRIPTION

Due to an exciting period of growth, Thomas More College is on the search for our next Leader of Counselling Services!

The Leader of Counselling Services is the leader of three Counsellors across years 7 to 12. The Leader will work collaboratively to lead counselling structures, procedures, and methodology at Thomas More College through the lens of Counselling and Social Work.

Through service provision, The Leader of Counselling Services is primarily responsible for working with the school community to maximise learning outcomes and life opportunities for students.

The role will include:

  • Leading the counselling team at TMC,
  • Collaborating with Leaders and Executive Leaders to coordinate supports for students.
  • Developing and implementing appropriate structures and procedures with the counselling team.
  • Maintaining overall responsibility for student case management.

To be successful in the role, you’ll need:

  • A professional degree or equivalent qualification which allows for full membership or entitles registration with the relevant Association/Board (e.g.  A Bachelor or Psychology or Social Work, and current registration).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a small Team and work within a wider Team.
  • An ability to support people with complex needs and enquiries.
  • Demonstrated high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to deal with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds with tact and discretion.

Note: The role is 37.5 hours a week, over 44 weeks of the year.
