 Redress Case Manager

 Contract to 24 December 2024 (part time – 30hrs wk)

Based at West Leederville, possible travel and working form other locations.

Relationships Australia WA is a leading non- government provider of relationship support services to the West Australian community with professional and highly motivated staff.

About the role

We are offering a fixed term role of Redress Case Manager in the Redress Support Service team at our West Leederville office. The position involves supporting survivors of child sexual abuse who are considering applying to the National Redress Scheme. The case manager provides client focused counselling and emotional support in a trauma informed context as well as to provide accurate information about the scheme and to assist completing Redress Applications. The Case Manager also works collaboratively with other service providers within a community context. 

The current vacancy is for 30 hours per week. 

Skills, experience, and qualifications

 Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Social Sciences -with knowledge of the impact of, and considerations for working with those who have experienced Childhood Sexual Abuse
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively engage over the telephone.
  • Commitment to supporting disadvantaged community members, particularly adults who as children have experienced institutional care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex mental health and functional challenges.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to effectively engage and to provide support services to people who have experienced complex trauma, supporting clients in crisis, and to interact with people who may be emotional, and/or who may present dysregulated.
  • Sound practice in maintaining safety, and the ability to work effectively, outside of the office environment including within prison settings (occasionally). 
  • Possession of a current National Federal Police Clearance and Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain both, incorporating criminal and traffic convictions and infringements.
  • A current West Australian driver’s licence. Ability to travel to regional/remote areas if required. 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the history and context of the issues faced by Care Leavers/Forgotten Australians.
  • A current West Australian drivers licence.
