The role you could play
We are seeking a dedicated Dual Diagnosis Practitioner (Mental Health and Wellbeing Local)! You will provide evidence-based interventions to support positive change for the impacts of both Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs. Additionally, you will provide community engagement activities to ensure that local communities are being supported and provide outreach support as required for those who find it difficult to attend a service location.

What is a Local?
The Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing services, otherwise known as “Locals”, are a key recommendation from Victoria’s Royal Commission into the mental health service system. As such, the Locals are a key feature of the current system transformation.

The Locals will act as a front door to the mental health service system utilising a no wrong door approach. The Locals will provide a continuum of care and support including clinical interventions, wellbeing supports, and therapeutic support through an integrated mental health and alcohol and other drug framework approach.

What is Mind?
Mind Australia is the lead agency in a consortium which comprises of Salvation Army, Bendigo Health, Echuca Regional Health, Bendigo District Aboriginal Cooperative, and Thorne Harbour Health, who collectively will deliver the Greater Bendigo Loddon Campaspe Local.
Our shared vision is a Local which delivers integrated care and support that puts the person accessing the service at the very centre of their treatment, support and care coordination using a range of evidence informed approaches. The consortium is committed to embedding and centering lived and living experience within all aspects of the service including program design and evaluation, leadership, service delivery and governance.

Duties

  • Provide support to Peer Workers through mentoring and availability for consultation
  • Encourage consumers to form links with other community programs (e.g.: self-help groups)
  • Participate in professional development, training and monthly clinical and line management supervision
  • Embed case management practices, including assessment and review under a trauma informed practice lens to ensure practices are consumer focused and reflective of contemporary theory
  • Collaborative care planning with the consumer, their family, carers and supporters to inform a codesigned care plan

This is a permanent full-time position, based in Bendigo and Echuca, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.3 Award.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Counselling or related discipline (desired)
  • Holds the AOD skill set as the minimum requirement to work in AOD sector or willing to obtain
  • Experience in clinical works, within AOD and/or Mental Health Services (highly desired)
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, support and lead staff
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
