Salary range between $100,000 – $110,000

The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) is the peak body representing, advocating, and supporting Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child protection and family support sector.

By sharing our collective knowledge and experience, we can all make a positive impact on policies and practices to combat the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Queensland’s child protection system.

About the role

The Senior Project Officer is responsible for developing, designing, and implementing innovative projects and programs that will achieve greater results for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, youth, families, and communities involved with child safety and youth justice service systems.

The Senior Project Officer will support the design and development of alternative care models for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children that are grounded in culture, are community-led, designed and delivered, and enable children to thrive in their own families, in the community and stay safe.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development and documentation of a Family Caring for Family model and framework that can be implemented and adapted across urban, regional and remote communities.
  • Effectively engage, consult, and partner with QATSICPP staff, members, and other stakeholders to inform the program’s design, development and implementation.
  • Develop high-quality resources and tools that supports the delivery of the model.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Director and/or CEO.

Desired skills, experience, and capabilities:

  • Knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Child Protection Act 1999 (Qld) and a good understanding of the current Child Safety Reforms, Initiatives and Programs.
  • Strong experience in developing project and implementation plans to a high standard and the ability to evaluate, monitor, and report on deliverables.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisations in child protection and youth justice.
  • Highly experienced in building, maintaining, and strengthening partnerships.
  • High level of experience in communication of written briefs, reports and documents, and an excellent verbal communicator, with experience in facilitating meetings, workshops, and forums.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor qualification and/or minimum three years’ experience in a related field.
  • A valid Queensland Working with Children’s Card (Blue Card) or eligible to apply.
  • Driver’s Licence.
