Psychosocial Support Workers Needed in Sydney, NSW

Hours to build up gradually and are flexible, to suit your existing commitments (must be available to work 15 hours minimum, ongoing).

Role Description
 

As a psychosocial support worker, the role may vary depending on the unique needs of each individual client. This may include but is not limited to assisting the participant in social outings or activities, providing mentoring, developing life/social skills or providing some assistance at home with life admin (some housework may be required). We arrange a meet and greet with the participant, we match you with to ensure it is a good fit for all parties involved.
 

The role is casual, with potential to review to a permanent part-time position after 12 months based on performance and ability to maintain consistent regular hours (at least 20 hrs/week). We strive to look after our employees including peer support and pay (SHADS) award rates and abide by national employment standards. This role has a starting weekday rate of $40.26 per hour (casual) plus super, and other entitlements including travel.
 

Who we are looking for
 

We are looking for psychosocial support workers, to work with us within the Sydney, NSW areas including the City, Inner West, Western Sydney and surrounds. If you are the right fit, we can work with you to fill up your caseload to suit your individual situation and workload preferences. 

Currently, we have work available to start immediately, in some areas (with 8am starts). In some cases, it may take a few days, a week or a few weeks to build up your desired work load, it depends on the demand at the time and our ability to match our support workers appropriately.
 

Minimum requirement: 
 

  • Some experience and understanding of mental health
  • Communication skills (it is important as it is a remote role)
  • Competent with technology and use of apps
  • Caring, and sensitivity to diverse and sometimes complex needs
  • license to drive in Australia with own insurance and reliable vehicle in order to travel to participants
  • Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
     

Desirable:
 

  • Knowledge and experience in psychosocial disability and or mental health related industries. 
  • Studying mental health or related areas, or considering further study in related area, commitment to own professional development  
  • Flexibility with availability, at least 15 hours per week & willing to grow caseload, able to work 8am starts and/or do late afternoon shifts.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, takes initiative and is proactive. 
  • Willing to travel up to 30 minutes – 1 hour
