Coordinated Support Worker Relationships Australia Victoria

JOB DESCRIPTION

Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is a secular, community-based, not-for-profit organisation with no religious affiliations who have been providing services to the Victorian community for over 75 years.  Our vision is for “positive, respectful, safe and fulfilling relationships for all Australians”.

Open Place is a support service for Victoria’s ‘Forgotten Australians’/pre 1990 CareLeavers and coordinates and provides direct assistance to address the needs and issues of people who grew up in ‘care’. Open Place helps people to deal with the legacy of their childhood experiences and to support them to improve their health and wellbeing.

The role

Reporting to the Senior Manager at Open Place, your responsibilities include working collaboratively to provide individual support including referral and connection to mainstream and specialist services, as well as advocacy regarding barriers and the coordination of multiple services. Your duties also involve providing outreach to home and community as required, targeting the service to those most in need, and providing assistance with addressing a single issue or longer-term case management for complex service user situations.

We have two full-time positions available, and the successful candidates will be offered a fixed-term contract until June 2024 with the possibility of permanent employment if funding contracts are renewed. Both of these positions will also support Forgotten Australians during the co-design of the State redress system and with related hardship payments.

About you

  • Degree qualified in community development, welfare, social work or a related social science, or demonstrated relevant experience.
  • An ability to listen with empathy and compassion and to manage sensitive and potentially confronting information.
  • Demonstrated understanding of person-centred, capacity building practice and a trauma informed approach.
  • Experience in facilitating groups.
  • Commitment to working with disadvantaged community members, particularly adults who grew up in institutional care in Victoria.

We provide

  • Competitive salary including meal/entertainment and salary packaging.
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • Generous employment conditions and benefits including additional paid leave benefits – parental, study, personal and compassionate, flexible, family violence leave as well as paid ex-gratia leave between Christmas and New Year.
  • Access to professional development and training including our Registered Training Organisation programs where we provide accredited and non-accredited courses.
  • Best practice clinical supervision and support through a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program.
  • Career progression opportunities internally across Melbourne Metropolitan and Regional Victoria centres.

The base salary range is $92k-$99k per annum.
