Complex Residential Support Worker

Great opportunity to build and refine your skills working with professional Autistic person with early onset dementia in a high intensity environment.
An exciting and highly challenging role as part of our dynamic new team. Promoting and maintaining personal autonomy, self-direction and choice and control while supporting an Autistic adult to live the lifestyle of their choosing and to actively participate in their home and community.
- minimum 38 hours per week
- 24/7 roster
- long term contractor (role for sole trader with ABN, working in a team)

MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR WEEKDAY, OVERNIGHT AND WEEKEND SHIFTS

Roles and responsibilities:
- assist with life management tasks including:
- managing diary and appointments
- management and storage of information and documents
- record keeping (including notes/minutes of meetings and appointments)
- assist with management of rosters, timesheets, shift notes etc
- scheduling and management of all aspects of day-to-day life including: daily tasks, routines and schedules, and household management
- assisting with day-to-day living tasks when on shift (including cleaning, washing, meal preparation and all other life management tasks)
- encouraging and assisting use of available sporting and fitness opportunities including racket sports like table-tennis, tennis and pickleball (must be able to play at least average level)
- assist explore, locate and pursue opportunities for a good life
- providing emotional support, communication and problem solving
What we need from you (selection criteria):

- proven high level organisational skills

- proven experience working in residential support settings
- proven experience working with Autistic adults, people with psychosocial disability and/or people with dementia
- must thrive in highly challenging but rewarding environment
- experience in supporting people with very complex support needs
- genuine skills and commitment to promoting autonomy, self-direction, choice and control of the people we support
- proven willingness and commitment to working as part of a harmonious, dynamic and diverse team
- availability and willingness to work minimum 38 hours per week across all shifts in a 24/7 roster which includes day, evening, overnight and weekends
- demonstrable excellent computer skills
- ability to project calm, positivity, confidence and ability to take command and direct to calm in highly stressful situations
- inner strength, resilience and self-awareness
- demonstrated ability to reflect on personal practice and take on feedback
- common sense, excellent problem-solving skills, ability to think outside the box and to try new things
- excellence in supporting adults with complex support needs
- highly developed skills in communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, facilitation and managing change
- capacity to work with minimal direction and supervision and to take initiative
- demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team in challenging and high pressure situations
- active participation in required induction, training, development, supervision and performance reviews
Highly desirable skills and qualities:
- skills and experience in leadership roles
- experience working in residential settings
- sports and fitness skills to at least an average level
- background in coaching highly considered
Must have:
- current drivers license
- your own insured and registered vehicle and willingness to provide transport
- current NDIS Worker Screening Check and/or National Police Check
- current First Aid/CPR certificate
- completion of NDIS worker training modules
- thorough working knowledge and commitment to NDIS Code of Conduct
Would suit:
Experience and/or qualifications in: Psychology, Social Work, extensive experience working in complex mental health settings, Occupational Therapy, Personal Assistant, residential support work, sport/fitness coach, manager, team leader, dementia, aged care
