We are seeking a Peer Worker to join our new Medicare Mental Health Centre Moruya   This is an excellent opportunity for a Peer Worker with a lived experience of mental health challenges. 
 
About us 
Grand Pacific Health is a not-for-profit, primary health care organisation.  Were here to provide our local communities in NSW and the ACT with equitable, inclusive and integrated health care including physical health and mental health care services.  We currently employ 400 people, provide services from 25 locations and are continuing to grow. 
 
About the position 
Medicare Mental Health Centres provide a safe and welcoming place for adults who may be in distress or crisis and need support finding the right mental health service. Staffed by a multidisciplinary mental health team who provide immediate, short to medium-term support and service navigation, the service takes a holistic and collaborative approach to care with a focus on a broad range of social, physical and emotional needs.  
As a Peer Worker you will work collaboratively with consumers to identify their support needs and develop collaborative plans to help them to move forward with their lives.  
 
This opportunity is available full-time and is fixed term to 30 June 2025 with a likely extension. Full-time positions have the option to enjoy a rostered day off each month. 
 
We are looking for someone with:  
  1. Personal experience as a consumer of Mental Health Services and ability to utilise the lived experience to support others in their own mental health recovery journey.
  2. Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness and commitment to obtain. 
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to consumer led recovery principles and trauma informed care.
  4. Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with a diverse range of stakeholders including consumers, families and service providers.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team with excellent computer skills (proficient in MS Office applications).
  6. Current drivers license (with a willingness to travel in accordance with demands of position).
