About our Organisation
Kurbingui is an Aboriginal community-based and driven not-for-profit organisation that offers services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, families, children and young people living within the Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and South East regions.
Kurbingui currently delivers various community services covering areas such as employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, cultural education and engagement programs, education support for families and children from preschool to tertiary, recreation and sports, early years, youth, women’s and men’s programs and cultural group activities, health and nutrition, and disability support.
The Role
- Contribute to culturally safe and responsive services within the program.
- Work collaboratively with relevant internal and external programs to ensure service users needs are met.
- Provide culturally safe advice, referrals and support to community members where support needs can not be met by current Kurbingui programs.
- Engage individuals and family members in a respectful manner that promotes dignity and encourages self-determination at all stages of family engagement.
- Liaise with the Team Leader, and Practitioners to contribute to the development of the case plan based on the needs and strengths of the family.
- Provide support to the administration team as required.
- Apply the QLD Child Protection Guide, practice framework and common assessment tools to assist the development of family-related assessments.
- Support the delivery of group work, educational and support activities and programs for parents, children and young people.
- Implement practical in-home support to families to support the development of parenting knowledge and skills, to improve family relationships, functioning and wellbeing in line with the case plan and under the guidance of the Practitioners and Team Leader.
- Implement any other support tasks as allocated within the case plan and under the guidance of the Practitioners and Team Leader.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and work collaboratively with other service providers to ensure the needs of families are met.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide effective service to both internal and external stakeholders from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Develop effective work-flow strategies to ensure set goals and deadlines are met.
Selection Criteria
- Qualifications or equivalent professional experience in Community Services e.g. Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences
- Experience in a community service-based organisation working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community service programs
- Possession of a current ‘Positive Notice’ Blue card (essential)
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Willingness to undergo a criminal history check
Desirable
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
Based in Zillmere with outreach to external services and Kurbingui satellite offices, we offer a competitive remuneration package in line with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award.
Employment is conditional upon producing a current Blue Card as well as maintaining clear personal history screening checks prior to and throughout employment. You will be required to undergo a Criminal History check.
