Centacare Family Services are currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced Aboriginal Community Advocates to join our Geraldton based team.
A remuneration package based on the SCHCADS Award 2010 for this position is level 3.1 of $36.00 per hour, plus superannuation and salary sacrifice options.
This is a flexible role offering either Part-time or Fulltime hours which will be negotiated with the succesful applicant.

Key Functions
- Support Centacare Family Services to provide effective services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Through consultation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations, identify, establish, and evaluate culturally appropriate and specific service models for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children.
- Promote Centacare Family Services within the Midwest and Gascoyne Communities.
Qualifications – Desirable
Tertiary qualification and/or experience in the community services sector.

- Aboriginality*
- Demonstrated Community Development skills and experience, including culturally appropriate community consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate programmes and services.
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with a broad-based network of service providers and a culturally diverse clientele.
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- High level of skill in Microsoft Office, Penelope Client Management database and/or other similar computer packages.
Ability to work within the philosophy and ethos of Centacare. Successful applicants will hold, or be able to obtain if successful, a WA Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance no older than 12 months, and a current WA Driver’s License.
