ABOUT THE ROLE
The Access and Referral team is the point of entry into the SEMPHN funded Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Services. The team receives referrals, screens for eligibility, allocates to relevant providers or assists with alternative options. A core function of the team is to facilitate referrals for existing consumers that need to step up or down into different parts of the mental health stepped care framework, ensuring that consumer needs are met as they change. This position provides clinical oversight and utilises clinical expertise to ensure appropriate screening and monitoring of referrals.
This position is currently also receiving referrals for the Head to Health phoneline. The Head to Health initiative includes a state-wide 1800 phone line inclusive of best practice initial assessment, intake, and referral to ensure services offered match the needs of the individuals. The intake process will provide a no wrong door approach.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this opportunity you must have relevant experience with clinical/tertiary qualifications AND current registration with a relevant professional registration body (in fields such as psychology, social work, mental health nursing or occupational therapy), relevant clinical experience in primary care, tertiary or the community sector, (ideally working in the mental health industry) as well as a demonstrated understanding of the mental health, psychosocial and AOD service systems. Experience working in Youth Mental Health is desirable.
The successful candidate will be flexible and a confident self-starter, with understanding of the SEMPHN Stepped Care Model, medical and psychosocial models of health, an ability to engage with and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
This role is not suitable for a provisional psychologist as we cannot provide the required supervision with a senior psychologist.
