Blackbird Counselling are seeking an enthusiastic mental health professional to work in the field of women’s mental health in private practice, based on the Sunshine Coast.
Blackbird is a counselling service that assists women and families with life adjustments and transitions. We pride ourselves on supporting individuals in the many roles throughout their lives.
After many years working within the field of women’s mental health, Eliza (Our Director) recognised the many & varied roles women adopt throughout the course of their lives and the challenges these roles present to their social, emotional and physical health. Blackbird Counselling expanded their services in 2020 to support ALL women and families during these important developmental transitions.
Eliza has hand-picked a team of exceptional mental health professionals with a diverse range of skills and experience to work with Blackbird Counselling supporting women’s mental health. But we need MORE passionate clinicians!

Blackbird assists individuals with the following transitions:
- Pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period;
- Birth trauma, infertility and pregnancy or infant loss;
- Adjustment to Parenthood and Mindful Parenting;
- Children, adolescence and school or study related stress;
- Career transitions/burnout and workplace stress;
- Grief and Bereavement;
- Caring for/or supporting others;
- Relationship breakdowns;
- Domestic and family violence or abuse;
- Victims of crime;
- Identity exploration and members of the LGBTQIA+ community
- Adverse health diagnoses and chronic pain;
- Trauma: childhood, complex, sexual assault and domestic violence;
- General anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders and PTSD.
At Blackbird Counselling, we provide a compassionate, non-judgmental and evidence-based approach to counselling, assessment and support services. Our therapists are members of the Australian Association of Social Workers or the Australian Psychological Society and they maintain a very high standard of ongoing professional development.
Candidates:
If you are a fully registered Psychologist or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, we currently have an opportunity for you to come on-board as a Contractor, 1-3 days a week.
We are seeking a clinician who can provide trauma-informed care in various areas, including adolescence, trauma, and grief. However, this is not limited to these specific areas. At Blackbird, we value our clinicians’ preferences and offer them the choice of the specific areas they would like to work in.

Location:
Blackbird Counselling are based at Blackbird House on the Sunshine Coast. Blackbird House is a Health and Wellbeing Centre, with multiple professionals working out of this space including Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Massage Therapists.
