About the role:
The Social Worker will work as part of the St. Vincent’s Hospital Sydney SVHS Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) and form part of a wider ACM program. The position is part of a multidisciplinary team who will work with individual clients in an outreach capacity toward the goal of reducing preventable hospital presentations for substance use issues, improving access to longer-term treatment and support for clients, improving general health, nutrition and social functioning, and reducing the risk of relapse through the establishment of prevention strategies.

Selection Criteria:
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent tertiary qualification with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with relevant health experience
- High level skills and experience in social work models of practice, experience working with vulnerable clients with complex health and psycho-social needs in a community setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of harm reduction, motivational interviewing and strength-based approaches in working with people who have alcohol and substance use dependence.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage competing demands with minimal direct supervision, and high-level engagement and performance in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development including providing clinical supervision and ability to lead quality improvement and service development projects.
- Demonstrated highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Current unrestricted NSW driver’s licence.
