  • Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – DASSA – Alcohol & Drug Information Service (ADIS)
  • Multiclass – Part-Time / Temporary term up to 6 months
  • $70,535 to $96,242 (Pro-Rata) – RN/M1
  • $75,430 to $79,070 (Pro-Rata) – AOS4

Overview:

For ASO4

  • The Alcohol and Drug Information Telephone Counsellor provides telephone counselling in the prevention, intervention and minimisation of related harm through the provision of a telephone assessment, counselling, treatment and referral options for people with drug or alcohol related problems and/or assistance to their family and significant others.
  • The Telephone Counsellor also contributes to the operations of the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Advisory Service (DACAS) and the Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative (IDDI), as well as the overall goals and objectives of the service.
  • The Telephone Counsellor is accountable for their own standards of practice, for activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.

For RN/M1

  • The Registered Nurse, Telephone Counsellor role will provide telephone counselling in the prevention, intervention and minimisation of related harm through the provision of a telephone assessment, counselling, treatment and referral options for people with drug or alcohol related problems and/or assistance to their family and significant others.
  • The Registered Nurse, Telephone Counsellor also contributes to the operations of the Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative (IDDI) as well as the overall goals and objectives of the service.
  • The Registered Nurse, Telephone Counsellor is accountable for own standards of nursing, for activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
  • A DHS ‘Working With Children Check’ (WWCC) is required for this position

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

  • May be required to work within other locations of DASSA/SA Health.
  • The incumbent may be required to participate in on call roster.
  • The service operates 7 days a week and the Registered Nurse, Telephone Counsellor will be required to work various shifts across a 7 day roster.
  • The service operates from 2 sites as delegated via the roster and the incumbent must be able to attend work from either site.
  • There may also be a requirement for the incumbent to work from home in situations, for example where social distancing is required.

For RN/M1

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
