  • Salary: $83,988 to $88,396 + super + salary packaging

 Your Opportunity 

The Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) program delivers support to children, young people, families experiencing or at risk of vulnerability. The program will focus on community strengthening, wellbeing, and safety.

You will provide counselling services to children, young people and their families in the Albury and Wagga Wagga region.

These may be young people who are residing at our youth accommodation program or adolescents and families in the wider community experiencing homelessness, situational crisis, education challenges, family violence etc. The position involves the provision of individual counselling, family counselling, support, group work programs and provision of information and supported referrals to residential programs.

Travel to Albury and support to Albury located clients is an essential requirement of the role, MA vehicle will be provided and overnight accommodation if required

Your key responsibilities will be to: 

  • Work with referred individuals to determine eligibility requirements and intake and assessment processes.
  • Schedule ongoing counselling sessions with whole families or individuals that is collaborative and client driven in an outreach environment including homes.
  • Develop quality relationships with a range of key stakeholders including community organisations, rehabilitation providers and other health professionals for the effective provision of support and information to clients.
  • Develop and conduct a range of group counselling sessions for families/adolescents on a range of relevant topics.
  • Participate in a range of interagency meetings, steering committees and other forums
  • Actively participate in clinical supervision, AFC association development programs and peer and team development activities

Requirements for Success 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Social Work
  • Understanding of youth homelessness and other issues relevant to young people
  • Demonstrated experience in working therapeutically in partnerships with young people and their families
  • Ability to network and develop effective working relationships at all levels for the community
  • Willingness to work from a strength based, solution focused perspective
  • High level written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to be able to work in a team environment and independently
  • Experience in the provision of individual counselling and group workshops
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A current driver’s license

 

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
