ADOLESCENT & FAMILY COUNSELLOR
Upper Hunter Youth Services Inc., located in Muswellbrook, is a community based organisation funded by Department of Communities and Justice. We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Adolescent and Family Counsellor to provide support, advocacy and referral to young people and their families in the Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter and Singleton Shires.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counselling and preventative services to young people and their families.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and DEX data integrity, to support effective planning, decision making and contributing to the accountability and continuous improvement of the Service.
- Consult and network with government departments, schools and community organisations.
- Working within a small team.
- Perform general administrative duties.
- Preparation of monthly reports.
- Attend meetings.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in psychology, counselling, family therapy, social work and welfare.
- Demonstrated ability to use a range of counselling approaches relevant to young people ages 10-18 years and their families.
- Clinical experience working with young people delivering appropriate intervention techniques and maintaining accurate clinical records.
- Ability to consult and network with government departments, schools and community services.
- Ability to work cross-culturally.
- Work effectively as a team member as well as working with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of Work Health & Safety Principles and Guidelines.
- Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer literacy in Outlook, Word and Excel
- Current Full Drivers Licence.
- Working with Children Check and a National Police Check.
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
