About us 

Caretakers Cottage provides Crisis Accommodation to homeless youth and early intervention support to young people at risk of homelessness. We have been providing crisis accommodation and support to young people and their families within the Eastern Suburbs and Inner City for 40 years. Check our website www.caretakers.org.au 

 

Our Team

A small multidisciplinary team with a mixture of Caseworkers and Youth Workers that work collaboratively to support young people from the ages of 13-17

 

Essential Criteria 

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work or a related Social Science Degree 
  • Experience in Case Management (minimum two year)
  • Experience working with young people with complex needs and their families is highly desirable
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues young people are facing in relation to homelessness and complex needs
  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of time management and self-initiative 
  • Appropriate work visa 
  • WWCC
  • First Aid Certificate 
  • National Police Certificate 
  • Must be fully vaccinated or hold an exemption 
  • Drivers license is essential 

 

Required Duties 

  • Conducting initial assessments and providing crisis intervention where appropriate
  • Working closely with the young person to develop case plans that include ongoing support, review, and follow up
  • Working collaboratively with external services where appropriate, making referrals for additional supports
  • Supporting young people to promote independence and empowerment, support the young person to achieve their goals
  • Undertaking home visits to support the young person and their families providing early intervention where necessary (Outreach Support)
  • Advocating on behalf of the young person where required
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records and case notes
  • Adhere to organisational policies and procedures 
  • Maintain professionalism and strong boundaries
