JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a Department built entirely for children and young people and their communities.  Our ultimate goal is to work together to ensure that every child and young person in Tasmania is known, safe, well and learning.

Duties

Coordinate the delivery of quality and timely services to young people transitioning from the Child Safety System to adulthood within the Transition to Independence Program service delivery model and the Child Safety Practice Framework.
Provide a key contact point for young adults transitioning from the Child Safety System, providing brief advice and support, short-term crisis support to medium term lead service coordination support. Working with young adults with their own agency to empower their knowledge, skills, and capabilities to improve their resilience, wellbeing, and the development of lifelong healthy relationships.

Period of Appointment

Fixed Term start ASAP for two years

Hours per fortnight

Full-time, Part-time up to 76 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1 Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) crimes of violence

b) sex related offences

c) serious drug offences

d) crimes involving dishonesty

2 Identification check

3 Disciplinary actions in previous employment check.

Desirable Requirements

  • Significant experience working in the field of Child Safety, Out of Home Care, Youth Services or After Care Support. 
  • Current Driver’s Licence
