Alchohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counsellor Latrobe Valley Latrobe Community Health Service

JOB DESCRIPTION

 Located in Latrobe Valley, full-time, permanent

  • Join a not-for-profit health care provider who is getting back to what matters
  • Work in a multidiciplinary team
  • Total remuneration package of $108,185 per annum including superannuation and the full optional benefit of salary packaging.

At Latrobe Community Health Service you’ll be part of a positive and passionate workplace. We’re dedicated to providing you with career opportunities through work that is rewarding and meaningful within the community.

Our integrated service model means you’ll provide your specialist expertise as part of a holistic solution for patients. Knowing that co-morbidity is often an impediment to effective patient outcomes, you’ll experience a greater sense of satisfaction in knowing your expertise is combined with others to achieve better patient outcomes. We recognise co-morbidity is an issue, and that better community health outcomes are achieved by treating the whole person, not simply isolated conditions. We structure our operations to combine the variety of allied health, social, community and medical services our communities need.

The AOD Counsellor is part of the AOD treatment suite and works to support a multidisciplinary approach to AOD and Mental Health care. The incumbent is responsible for delivering timely, holistic and culturally safe AOD assessments utilising the DHHS-endorsed assessment tools. Assessment treatment can be conducted via face to face, Video Conferencing and telephone modalities, and requires timely throughput of referrals to treatment. The role will also include brief intervention as required.

The AOD Counsellor will have relevant expertise and contribute to monthly reporting and monitoring of key performance indicators and targets under the direction of the BHP manager.

To be successful, you will require;

  • Tertiary qualification (or near completion in a relevant health profession/discipline including social work, psychology, counselling, mental health nursing and occupational therapy).
  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) the minimum four AOD core modules within six months of commencement.
  • Registration or eligibility for membership with relevant profession/discipline body (if applicable).
  • A broad understanding of the AOD service system within Victoria and knowledge of relevant legislation
  • A current Employee Working with Children Check
