Location: This position is based at Sonder Marion and other Toward Home Alliance Locations (Adelaide CBD & Christies Beach). This position does hold the expectation to attend all sites as required.

Learn about the position:

The Toward Home Alliance, consisting of Sonder, Aboriginal Family Support Services, Baptist Care SA, Hutt Street Centre, Lutheran Care, Mission Australia and the Salvation Army, in collaboration with the South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA) work together to deliver a ‘whole system’ approach to achieving the objective of ending homelessness and recognises that every position within the Toward Home Alliance has a vital role to play in eliminating homelessness. 

As the Toward Home Wellbeing AOD Practitioner, your focus will be on providing AOD support, including ongoing assessment of need, initial and brief intervention strategies and support to access mainstream services, together with a facilitated introduction and referral to health care.  In some instances, they may be engaged in supporting individuals into housing as part of the Wellbeing team.

 

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ supervised experience in the area of AOD or Comorbidity service delivery
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable individuals and complexity
  • Experience in the delivery of evidence-based AOD interventions, such as motivational interviewing, recovery orientated interventions and harm minimisation interventions
  • Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment

 

Qualification Requirements and other Requirements:

  • Relevant Allied Health Qualification e.g. Social Work or Occupational Therapy, or relevant undergraduate tertiary qualification e.g. psychology, or other relevant tertiary qualification e.g. counselling and experience in the AOD sector
  • Current or willing to obtain a Working With Childrens Check (WWCC)
  • Safe Environments – Through Their Eyes Certificate (desirable but not required)
