Alcohol and Other Drug Specialist (Counsellor) – Lismore/Ballina Northern NSW Local Health District

Employment Type: Permanent Full or Part Time
Position Classification: Psychologist; Social Worker / Counsellor (Lvl 1-2)
Remuneration: $35.78 – $55.17 per hour, dependent on qualifications
Hours Per Week: up to 38

In this role, you’ll work to minimise the harmful effects of substance use on people, by providing and maintaining a high standard of individualised client care, through the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Service. 

If you have:

  • Relevant qualifications as per the Position Description
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience of a variety of evidence-based therapeutic counselling approaches in the AOD field
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Trauma Informed Care and harm minimisation principles 
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in the assessment of AOD issues, implementing counselling approaches, referral, group work and brief interventions
  • Experience in working in partnership with government services, non-government agencies and community groups
  • Valid unrestricted drivers’ licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment
