About the Role
Our Alcohol and Other Drug Specialists support prisoners to access prison-based drug and alcohol programs and services to support their recovery. The role has a particular focus on harm minimisation and facilitating programs and services that support increased awareness of harm reduction strategies both in custody and post-release. This role will see you also facilitating group-based programs that increase self-efficacy through the development of effective coping strategies and relapse prevention planning.
About Your Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A health, social or behavioural science undergraduate degree, a Certificate IV in AOD, Diploma in AOD, or extensive AOD experience
- Experience working in the AOD sector in either screening and assessment, case work, or program delivery
- A desire to make a difference to the lives of people who may experience disadvantage, have challenging behaviours and complex needs
- Experience working collaboratively with others in a complex environment
- Ability to embrace change and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills
- Empathy and cultural awareness
- Resilience
