About your opportunity

Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician |Permanent part-time, 40 hours per fortnight

As a clinician working in the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (ATODS), you will provide a broad range of base level assessments and interventions to individuals, their families, and groups in the context of minimising harm from substance use at all levels within the Townsville geographical area.

This role will regularly involve providing detailed assessment or case manager services and therapy to people affected by all types of substances and a diverse range of populations and cultures, including consumers who are opiate dependant (on the Queensland Opiate Treatment Program (QOTP). Provision of outreach service may include other locations within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service at times.

Generous pro rata remuneration package value up to $132.730 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $38.70-$58.67 p.h. (HP3) or $52.86-$56.60 p.h. (NG6-1).
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • Mandatory qualifications: The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Nursing.
  • Mandatory qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • While not mandatory, eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 would be well regarded
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check’ from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Possession of class C drivers’ licence.
  • Travel: All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the service.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
  • Probation period may apply.
