About the opportunity

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (MH&WS) has been established in response to recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. This innovative service will deliver an integrated practice model with a ‘no wrong door’ approach to assist members of the community to be connected with the right support.

The AOD Clinician will provide high quality engagement, assessment, treatment and care and recovery support services to individuals and their families, through evidence-based, therapeutic counselling and group work. The role will work as part of a multidisciplinary team utilising a holistic approach to reduce AOD related harm to individuals and their families.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Health, Welfare or a related discipline
  • A Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the core competencies (or able to complete within the first 24 months of employment)
  • Competencies in dual diagnosis (or able to complete within the first 24 months of employment)
  • Previous experience in the provision of assessment and counselling services, preferability with AOD or dual diagnosis clients
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant therapeutic approaches and community-based interventions for reducing alcohol and drug related harm
