Lismore Drug and Alcohol service is seeking an Alcohol and Other Drugs Counsellor to minimise the harmful effects of substance use on people, by providing and maintaining a high standard of individualised client care through the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Service for patients accessing the service.
If you have:
- Tertiary qualifications and where applicable, membership of the relevant association or registered with the relevant board, in one of the following disciplines: Psychologist (registered or able to obtain registration in NSW) OR Social Worker (eligible for membership of the AASW) OR Counsellor (bachelor degree in counselling or a related field, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer). Professions which fall under the Health Professionals State Award (Social Worker, Counselor) must provide evidence of 3 years clinical experience in their profession to be appointed at Level 2
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team, with effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of a variety of evidence based therapeutic counselling approaches in the AOD field applicable with people presenting with complex needs
- Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Trauma Informed Care and harm minimisation principles in the care of people with AOD issues
- Demonstrated clinical experience in the assessment of AOD issues, implementing counselling approaches, referral, group work and brief interventions
