Care Hubs provide short term intensive and focused support to progress the permanency objective for the child or young person. The average duration of the Care Hub is six weeks in the placement component and/or up to 12 weeks with outreach support.

Why this role matters

As the AOD Practitioner you will work within the Care Hub providing early assessment, planning and wrap around supports by a single integrated team (formed from a consortium of organisations) for children and young people who are first time entrants into care.

The role you could play

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary network of services providing wrap around supports to the family members of young people who are first time entrants into out of home care.
  • Provide liaison, support and a range of interventions including assessment and case management to assist in improving the health & wellbeing for young people, family members and significant others engaged in the care hub program who are experiencing alcohol and other drug related harms.
  • Provide an entry point to Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) services for young people and family members with AOD issues who reside in the Loddon region, through assessing need, identifying treatment options, and working collaboratively to create holistic treatment pathways.

This is a fixed term full time position to 30 June 2024, based at our Northern Victoria Alcohol and Other Drug Services (NVAODS) in Bendigo.

What we’re looking for

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or related discipline
  • Minimum qualification Diploma Community Services
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment
  • AOD Skillset or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months of commencing employment
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
