Why this role matters
We have an exciting opportunity for an AOD Practitioner to provide liaison, support and a range of interventions including counselling and case management to assist in improving the health & wellbeing for individuals, family members and significant others experiencing alcohol and other drug related harms to clients referred to The Northern Victoria Alcohol & Other Drugs service.
The role you could play
This position provides intervention through exploration of the impact of substance use on the individual, their families and significant others and care and recovery coordination through coordinating care and support around issues caused by substance use. The position:
- Engages with clients to facilitate positive change across the spectrum of needs including, alcohol and drugs, physical and mental health, financial, legal, family and relationships, community and meaningful use of time
- Works with families and significant others to develop family inclusive practice
- Operates as part of a team along with Alcohol & Other Drugs practitioners, Mental health practitioners and other program staff to achieve the best outcomes for the clients
- Initiates case plans with client to ensure necessary and relevant follow up care is provided.
- Advocates on behalf of clients to ensure access to relevant services
This is a permanent full time position based in Bendigo. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 5.

What we’re looking for
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or related discipline
- Minimum qualification Diploma Community Services
- Relevant experience in a social service environment
- AOD Skillset or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months of commencing employment
- Understands and applies Alcohol & Other Drugs models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
- Knowledge of general models of intervention in social work
- Demonstrates knowledge of Alcohol & Other Drugs sector including role, context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations and legislation
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
