Your Opportunity

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to support young people experiencing alcohol and other drug-related issues, and their families and carers, through group work, counselling, advocacy, case management and referral to other services.

To perform this role it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section sub-s 56(2) of Equal Opportunity Act 1984.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide intensive ongoing person-centered case management (formal and informal)
  • Work with families, the local community and service providers
  • Facilitate AOD education, information sessions and service presentations within the local community
  • Provide, evidence-informed case management sessions
  • Assist clients while at the service through brief therapeutic intervention and referral to suitable services
  • Work with clients to create holistic and strength based individualised support plans utilising SMART goals including referral to supplementary services as needed.
  • Ensure that all required internal and external client paperwork is completed
  • Facilitate group activities such as SMART recovery groups
  • Complete a range of administrative duties for the efficient running of the service
  • Create and maintain client related paperwork including individualised case management files.

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant degree or Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs with relevant experience a minimum.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide specialised or complex therapeutic interventions and manage a caseload of complex client.
  • Demonstrated professional approach to the role including maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Understanding from combined lived experience and professional development about factors that support recovery and a proven ability to use this to positively support others on their recovery journey
  • Current Driver Licence
