ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Gold Coast Alcohol & Other Drugs Counsellor Case (AOD) is a Community Outreach AOD counselling service offered to those over 18yrs who are experiencing problems with addiction. The service is offered Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The AOD Counsellor Case Manager will deliver integrated individual counselling/case management and intensive day rehabilitation group programs. This will include group facilitation in addition to case management of an independent caseload and the provision of specialist assessment on the level of drug dependence.
Primary responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Provide high quality engagement, assessment, counselling, case management and support services to clients, and their families.
- Develop, facilitate and evaluate therapeutic group programs aimed at achieving client readiness for AOD residential treatment.
- Manage a case load of clients with varying levels of complexity, providing counselling support, service coordination, referral, and advocacy to assist in achieving their goals.
- Actively support development of client capacity and community support groups for clients who wish to enter and are exiting residential treatment.
This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week.
ABOUT YOU
You are an engaging individual with the ability to connect with clients who are navigating mental health challenges and difficult life experiences. You can work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team and utilise the appropriate techniques to support your clients.
You will also demonstrate the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, counselling or mental health (or related discipline).
- Experience and knowledge in contemporary AOD counselling, case management and intake and assessment.
- Experience in evidence based modalities including relapse prevention.
- Sound interpersonal skills, including a high standard of written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise clinical and administrative duties, including the effective and efficient planning and organisation of a complex caseload.
The base salary range for this role is $39.26 to $44.92 per hour + super + salary packaging.
