Your opportunity
The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Counsellor Case Manager will deliver integrated individual counselling & case management and day group programs to young people in the region for age groups 12-17 and 18-24 years old. This will encompass group facilitation and a case load providing individual counselling and case management providing specialist support in Alcohol and Other Drugs.
Other responsibilities of the role will include:
- Provide high quality engagement, assessment, counselling, case management and support services to clients, and their families, using evidence-based practice principles to young people.
- Recognise the needs of young people and their families/signi?cant others, including the provision of psycho-education, debriefing, support and any family work required.
- Facilitate group programs with other co-facilitators.
- Manage a case load of clients, through providing support, service coordination, referral and advocacy to assist client in achieving their goals.
- Work with clients to develop, implement and review individual treatment goals.
- Ensure continuity of care by effectively communicating within the multidisciplinary team and across interfaces with other health care providers.
- Provide pre- and post-rehabilitation support and relapse prevention planning.
- Engage with and develop productive relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide culturally appropriate practice as relevant to varying clients. This includes engaging in ethical practice by identifying and meeting the social and cultural needs of consumers.
- Actively ensure all procedures and relevant systems are implemented, understood and adhered to on an ongoing basis.
- Constructively and positively participate in the development, improvement and implementation of systems and processes, including any requirements of an accreditation process.

- Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
- Participate in, and contribute to, regular case conferences, presentations and team discussions in relation to clinical practice and issues.
- Articulate and discuss AOD and its associated factors with the team to align service delivery with evidence-based practice.
- Actively ensure all procedures and relevant systems are implemented, understood and adhered to on an ongoing basis.
- Conduct practice in a manner that is consistent with professional standards, ethical principles and the code of conduct.
- Maintain timely file records, data collection processes, outcome measures in line with confidentiality and reporting as required.
- Ensure that services provide respect and protect the rights of consumers and carers and maintain their privacy and confidentiality.
- Respect the cultural diversity amongst individuals and families and uphold ethical standards in line with both Lives Lived Well and the relevant profession.
- Emphasise the importance of engagement in building rapport and working relationships with clients and their families.
- Collect and monitor feedback data from consumers by ensuring consumer views are taken into consideration during service delivery. Ensure that improvements are made where appropriate.
- Ensure barriers, including any structural and communication barriers, are addressed.

This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week.
The gross hourly pay rate for this role is $41.52 – $49.65 per hour + super + salary packaging benefits, depending on skills, knowledge and experience.
What you’ll bring
- A current Working with Children Check.
- Complete a National Criminal History Check.
- Current Australian (issued) Drivers Licence.
- A bachelor level qualification in a relevant human services field such as psychology, social work or allied health.
- Demonstrated experience in contemporary evidence based AOD counselling practice, case management and intake and assessment.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of people from diverse backgrounds including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and LGBTIQI+, communities.
- Experience or demonstrated understanding in working with young people and their key stakeholders.
- Strong experience in facilitating groups/sessions in relation to AOD.
- Highly developed interpersonal and community engagement skills.
- A sound understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements that underpin the treatment and clinical management of substance misuse problems.
