On behalf of our client which is a well established not for profit organisation in the Northern Territory we are seeking an experienced AOD Counsellor or AOD Social Worker to work within a high quality and cohesive team that respond to clients across Darwin and surrounds in culturally appropriate counselling services. It also contributes to the community by providing AOD programs within the Darwin region that support individuals affected by substance misuse across the age spectrum from children to adults. The frameworks used have a strong focus on using a family systems model of intervention to work with all family members where possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a family systems model of prevention, intervention, access to treatments and
- ongoing support to families and individuals affected by AOD.
- Utilise strengths-based theory base that is provided within the harm minimisation framework
- Work with clients to establish the impact their AOD misuse
- Facilitate referrals to other services so that participants can have their needs met
- Apply evidence based, therapeutic targeted interventions and trauma informed methodologies to work towards agreed upon goals and deliver wellbeing outcomes.
About You
- Relevant qualifications (Counselling Psychology or Social Work).
- Demonstrated experience working with children, young people, families.
- Membership of a governing body such as PACFA, AASW or ACA.
- Demonstrated competence in using a broad range of evidence-based counselling and group work approaches to support client outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including case note writing.
- Demonstrated cultural competency when working with Indigenous people.
