Counsellor/Educator

  • Full time, 76hrs per fortnight, located in Esperance.
  • $77,500 – $83,500 + Super + Regional Allowance + Salary Packaging + Regional Allowance

About the role:

As Counsellor / Educator you will provide assessment, counselling, case management, education, and respectful support to individuals, families, significant others dealing with the impact of alcohol and other drug use and mental health issues. You will develop recovery plans with the clients and review the effectiveness of the plan in progressing the client towards their goals. You will have up to date knowledge of evidence-based interventions for alcohol and other drugs, and mental health illnesses. In this role there will be a focus on building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholder and participating in community prevention activities, interagency and service coordination meetings, as well as deliver outreach services. You will also provide assessment, advocacy, and referrals for people who participate in Court and Police Diversion Programs.

Requirements of the role:

You will have a strong work ethic who reflects and improves on their own practice. Working safely and contributes to team effectiveness. Being a person who is has a person-centred, strength-based perspective and empowerment approach will see you do well in this role. You must have a tertiary qualification in health, education, behavioural/social sciences, youth work, health/mental health nursing or approved equivalent, with experience working in the Alcohol and Other Drug or Mental Health sector. You will have a sound understanding of the complex needs of clients who experience co-occurring AOD as well as the physical, mental, legal, and social impacts of alcohol and other drugs
