JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role: As a Counsellor with us, you will get to actively facilitate improved well-being for people to bring about positive and lasting change. The INTRA (Insight Network Treatment Referral Axis) program offers a range of drug and alcohol treatment services informed by the changing needs of the person. The program is holistic and encompasses early intervention, group and individual treatment, stabilisation, and relapse prevention. You will be guiding and supporting participants utilising individual AOD treatment plans and facilitate educational, counselling and process groups. You will also be able to work one on one with participants to support them to meet goals using the recovery model. 

 

Hours and location: You will be working 26 hours a week. Hours are flexible and can be worked between 3 to 4 days. The team generally works Monday to Friday between 9.00am to 4.30pm. There is no weekend work. This is a hybrid role with options to work from home when you are not meeting with participants face to face at our Byron office.

 

About you: Selection criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualifications at university level in areas such as AOD, social work, psychology, mental health or community services
  2. A current and valid manual Driver’s Licence is required. COVID vaccination, a satisfactory current Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check are mandatory prior to commencement. 
  3. Extensive experience in providing counselling using the recovery model to individuals experiencing drug or alcohol misuse and/or complex support needs 
  4. Experience in delivering group counselling and group facilitation
  5. Computer literacy in MS Office, video conferencing applications and a variety of databases.

This role is remunerated with a rate up to $37ph depending on qualifications and experience. (For a 38 hour week, this is a package inc. super of over $81k with access to salary packaging to potentially increase your take home pay by another 5k). The role is funded to March 2023 with potential for extension.
