About the Service

The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Service provides a client centred, stepped care model offering individual and group counselling, pre- and post-rehabilitation support, relapse prevention, case management, group programs, care planning and care coordination for clients with AOD dependence, mental health dual diagnosis and complex needs and their families and carers.

Your opportunity

As an AOD Group Facilitator and Case Manager, you’ll engage and support your clients in their ongoing management, counselling, and treatment of AOD dependency and other associated factors. You’ll advocate for them, celebrate with them when they achieve their goals, and help to develop their capacity and confidence to exit treatment. A primary focus of this position is group facilitation.

You will also be networking within the community and with potential group participants, to create awareness of the group program and promote this program to potential clients who would benefit from attending.

A typical day in this role will include:

  • Facilitate intensive group therapy day rehabilitation programs with other co-facilitators.
  • Manage a case load of clients, through providing support, service coordination, referral, and advocacy to assist client in achieving their goals.
  • Work with clients to develop, implement and review individual treatment goals.
  • Ensure continuity of care by effectively communicating within the multidisciplinary team and across interfaces with other health care providers.
  • Provide pre- and post-rehabilitation support and relapse prevention planning.
  • Engage with and develop productive relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide culturally appropriate practice as relevant to varying clients.
  • This role will provide face to face services to clients, working from our Dubbo office.

In this role, you will join an experienced and long-standing team. While this is largely an autonomous role you will be supported by a values-based Team Leader and 4 other colleagues, who are energetic, passionate, and collaborative. There are multiple positions available. These are full-time maximum term contract roles until 30 May 2024 with a strong possibility of extension. The salary ranges between $82,043.52 and $98,108.40 per annum, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience. 

 

For the right applicant we are also able to offer up to $1,500 in relocation assistance. 


What you’ll bring

We are looking for an individual who loves to work in a dynamic environment, as part of a collaborative team and has a particular interest and passion for running group programs. You will be a self-starter and must be able to navigate any challenges arising from a service delivery perspective in a small community.

 

To succeed in this role, there are some essentials you’ll need:

  • A minimum of a Diploma in AOD or Community Services, or other related health services discipline.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships
  • Highly developed communication and community engagement skills
  • A sound understanding of the professional, ethical, and legal requirements that underpin the treatment and clinical management of substance misuse problems
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritise clinical and administrative duties
  • A proactive attitude and demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Aptitude and willingness for learning.
  • Drivers Licence and police clearance.


While not essential, we’d also love you to have:

  • Experience or knowledge of AOD or a similar setting such as mental health or corrections and or experience in group facilitation.
  • Experience in program establishment or set up.
