Aboriginal Sobriety Group Indigenous Corporation (ASG) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Corporation that values the practice and determinations of Aboriginal culture; customs and tradition. ASG are looking for a qualified AOD Counsellor who has experience or willing to be trained in counselling and case management to join our team.
This position is part time, 4 days a week.
The primary role of the AOD Prison Counsellor
- Provide personal and social support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through culturally appropriate counselling services
- Assess the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander prisoners and offenders seeking access to AOD programs and counselling services using a holistic framework.
- Provision of culturally appropriate alcohol and drug counselling and support services to Aboriginal prisoners and offenders throughout the Prisons and Community Correctional Centres in the Adelaide Metro and Southern regions.
- General outreach counselling
All Candidates must have the following:-
- Certificate IV in Alcohol and other Drugs or other counselling qualifications
- Current Working with Children Clearance
- Current Vulnerable Person Related Clearance
- Current National Police Clearance
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Child Safe Environment Certificate
- Evidence of being fully covid19 vaccinated
- Eligible to gain or already have a prison system L2 access pass
