We are a leading Victorian-based drug and alcohol treatment organisation. For more than 30 years, we have been helping people rebuild their lives in a safe, caring environment, supporting our clients wherever they are in the recovery process.

We have an exciting opportunity for a AOD Therapist to join our team located in Barwon on a full-time permanent basis, the role will be on a rotating roster and include weekend work. On-call roster support will also be required.

The Role

The AOD Therapist works in a multidisciplinary team to provide the highest quality of care and treatment for residents and also supervises other staff. The AOD Therapist conducts assessment, psycho-education and evidence-based interventions to residents undertaking AOD rehabilitation, predominantly within a group setting. The therapist also works with residents individually to tailor treatment to ensure they are prepared and engaged with their recovery plan.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Have a diploma with extensive experience within a similar field, OR a bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline (e.g. social work, mental health, psychology) with experience in similar field.
  • Have a Certificate IV in AOD or have completed 4 AOD Competencies for applicants with health-related degrees OR the ability to complete studies whilst in employment.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in the drug and alcohol service system and the range of treatment options available, including trauma-informed care and knowledge of principles of harm minimisation relating to illicit drug use.
