About the Role:
The organisation we are representing is looking for an AOD Transition Worker (Identified), based in Canterbury with travel in surrounding areas required. In order to be successful in this role you must have previous counselling or mental health experience as you will be working side by side with clients to ensure harm minimisation and to offer critical support. Lived experience is welcomed alongside professional experience.

Key duties:
- Assess referrals and conduct assessments of clients referred pre-released from custody
- Provide pre-release AOD counselling and support to people for one month prior to their release
- Support people during the high risk transitional period (first 3 months) from prison to the community
- Advocate, support, minimise harm
- Provide pathways to improve their social and emotional wellbeing
- Maintain confidential and comprehensive case files documenting client referral, assessment, case plans
Skills & Experience:
- Cert IV or above in Mental health, AOD, or relevant community welfare qualification
- Experience working with the AOD community
- Identified role: Applicant must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

Desired Skills & Experience:
- Counselling qualifications highly regarded though not essential
- You will also have or be willing to undergo a Working with Children Check and a Police Check.
