JOB DESCRIPTION

The Position:
 
The primary purpose of the Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Worker is to provide clinical assessment and case management to individuals and their families with alcohol and drug concerns.
 
The position will be responsible for the provision of secondary consultation, health promotion and working with mandated and voluntary clients.
 
The position will be Cherbourg based to service the Cherbourg and other South Burnett locations.

About CRAICCHS:
 
Cherbourg Regional Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (CRAICCHS) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Organisation. 
 
CRAICCHS objective is to provide increased access to quality primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services to the Communities in the South Burnett regions. 
 
Key Duties:
 
The duties will be diverse, and although not limited to, will include:

  • Work sensitively and effectively with vulnerable individuals and their families with an understanding of the holistic needs of the client and their family.
  • Apply the principles and practices of working with youth, adults and families.
  • Facilitate groups and work with individual clients.
  • Assess and manage clients including case management, case formulation and development of individual treatment plans.
  • Apply current alcohol and other drug interventions.
  • Apply the principles of harm minimisation and treatment of AOD problems including relapse prevention.
  • Develop effective working relationships and referral pathways with external service providers.
  • Travel within the region as required.

Key Requirements:
 
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum qualification of a Certificate IV in Mental Health (including Counselling).

and/or 
 
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
 
and/or
 
The willingness to study toward a Cert IV in Mental Health or similar field.

  • Identification as an Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • The ability to work sensitively and effectively with vulnerable individuals and their families with an understanding of the holistic needs of the client and their family.
  • Connection to the local community and capacity to engage and encourage program participation.
  • Current driver licence.
  • The ability to travel within the region if needed.
  • Flexibility to be able to work outside of normal hours as needed.
  • Current Blue Card (working with children and young people) or the ability to quickly acquire.
  • Minimum 2 covid vaccinations.
