AOD Youth and Family Support Worker Anglicare Victoria

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Position: 

We are seeking an experienced alcohol & other drug (AOD) practitioner to provide outreach intervention and support to young people and their families in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. The Youth AOD Support Worker is responsible for providing alcohol and drug treatment and support to young people (12-25 years) with complex life issues and who present with at-risk behaviours. This program utilises an assertive outreach and strengths based model, providing support to young people who require early intervention and/or alcohol and drug treatment to stabilise, reduce or cease harmful alcohol and drug use. The program provides linkages to a range of specific support services provided locally, including Anglicare Victoria services.

 

The skills you use day to day: 

  • Working with disadvantaged and marginalized young people, working with young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours
  • Delivering a range of evidence-based AOD treatment interventions and modalities
  • Care planning and case management approaches
  • Harm minimization and treatment of AOD problems including relapse prevention
  • Working under the legislative and operating environment of the Child Protection and Youth Justice systems
  • CMS database management including: Infoxchange, Penelope and Riskman highly desirable

 

Qualifications:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Welfare Work and/or Community Development and at least two years’ experience in working with people with AOD issues
  • Certificate IV in AOD or have completed the required competencies

 

Please Note: It is mandatory for the successful applicant to hold a current Working with Children Check and be prepared to undergo a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement.  AV employees are required to either be fully vaccinated against Covid 19 or have a medical exemption. AV will require evidence that you are compliant with these requirements.
