We are recruiting for an experienced Counsellor to work at a Federal Government department to improve the lives and wellbeing of current and former serving Veterans and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team & provide a service to the community.
Your new role
This is a fast-paced and rewarding role that will allow you to provide high quality care to clients. The primary role of the Counsellor is to facilitate healing and support in the wellbeing of the organisations valued patients. The role will allow you to apply your skills and knowledge to improve individual need’s and to support every client to be happy and whole. Some of the duties for this role includes:
- Provision of high-quality clinical services including assessment and referral, evidence based individual, couple and family counselling, and case management to eligible Open Arms clients in order to achieve outcomes identified in care planning processes.
- Contribution to the development and delivery of Open Arms group programs as required.
- Maintaining clinical records according to Open Arms standards, collating and analysing data from client records, and preparing reports as required to assist in evaluating and improving service delivery.
- Facilitating the delivery of Open Arms counselling and other programs to veterans, ADF personnel and their families in rural and outer metropolitan areas.
- Applying quality assurance principles and procedures to ensure the clinical practice, reporting and invoicing activities of outreach counsellors meet contractual requirements
- Participation in and contribution to ongoing learning and development activities and maintenance of professional status.
- Participation in community development and service promotion activities as required.
- Participation in program evaluation and research activities, contributing to project management activities that implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations, and provide feedback for ongoing development of clinical policies and procedures.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Qualification as a registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Accredited Mental Health Social Worker or Nurse with mental health experience.
- Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencement.
- Australian Citizenship
