APS6/EL1 Social Worker Randstad – Commercial

JOB DESCRIPTION

Randstad Recruitment is seeking experienced Mental Health Social Workers or Psychologists to work within a Federal Government department to improve the lives and wellbeing of current and former serving Veterans and their families.

To be successful in this role, applicants must demonstrate strong attention to detail, highly developed critical thinking and problem solving, and excellent interpersonal and self-management skills. This would be ideal for an experienced front line social worker looking to work behind the scenes in a more administrative/backstage role.

  • Take calls dealing with complex and difficult issues with people who may be experiencing mental health or substance abuse problems, are feeling angry, sad or suicidal, or who are using strong or theatening language.
  • Take responsibility for identifying opportunities to support community-based suicide prevention, intervention, postvention and after care supports, services and activities
  • Working with frontline service responders including police and relevant health services and community agencies, to develop protocols for identifying and responding to critical incidents.
  • Provision of high-quality clinical services including assessment and referral, evidence based individual, couple and family counseling, and case management to eligible clients in order to achieve outcomes identified in care planning processes.
  • Participation in program evaluation and research activities, contributing to project management activities that implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations, and provide feedback for ongoing development of clinical policies and procedures.

Eligible candidates must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences Welfare, Mental Health, or related discipline, with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Working with Children (WWC) and/or Vulnerable People Checks/Clearance must be obtained prior to commencement.
  • Trained and experienced in the treatment of PTSD. Ability to conduct couples and family therapy would also be desirable.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by those who have served in the Australian Defence Force
