About the role
Art Therapists are employed at Hyson Green as part of the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate the group therapy programs and provide individual therapy for inpatients. The role also involves providing consultation and liaison to other areas of the Private Hospital as needed.

The team at Hyson Green are committed to providing contemporary and innovative approaches to mental health care. We strive to empower our patients on their recovery journey, with a focus on collaborative decision making and care planning.

Hyson Green is a private 34 bed facility with the recent expansion due to be completed in to incorporate an additional 14 beds. Hyson Green offers both day and in-patient programs and support for more than 500 patients a year who exhibit common mental health conditions including anxiety, depression and mood disorders. Our team is passionate in supporting patients to achieve their best possible outcomes with high quality tailored programs to suit individual needs.

 

What you bring 

Mandatory:

  • Master of Art Therapy from an ANZACATA endorsed tertiary institution
  • Professional membership with ANZACATA (or eligibility to register)
  • Appropriate clinical experience, including demonstrated skills in assessment, treatment, therapeutic intervention, group work, case management, and case work
  • COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement unless assessed exempt

Desirable:

  • Experience in or demonstrated capacity to provide Art Therapy services in group, individual and open studio formats
  • Passion for creative expression, and capacity to provide technical support and work creatively alongside participants
  • Experience in and/or interest in enhancing the hospital environment and patient experience through the display of artwork
  • Capacity to engage in Art Therapy specific supervision
  • Demonstrated ability in materials procurement and maintaining an art studio
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective group programs for patients and their families
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral – in particular, an ability to develop and maintain rapport with clients and other health care professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Appropriate computer skills and ability to learn and use new IT systems
  • Demonstrated high order ability in liaising with VMOs and their reception staff, health funds and hospital staff through a strong customer focus
