Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organization where you can support young people in our community? Are you looking to branch out from your Centre-based role? Are you passionate about providing outreach services and facilitating engagement?
This full-time position of Assertive Outreach Worker supports our mission by persistent outreach to identify, engage, and work with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to achieve sustainable outcomes.
You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
- Experience in conducting street-based outreach and/or applicable experience, including the ability to build trusting relationships and complete holistic assessments with young people (including risk assessments and safety planning).
- Experience working with vulnerable young people and experience in a front-line service delivery setting
- Experience facilitating referrals and support young people to access housing, legal, physical and mental health support, education and employment, and engage with their community
- Developing collaborative relationships with internal and external service providers.
Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:
- Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
- National Police Check clearance.
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases – Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; Hepatitis B and COVID-19.
