We are a Not-for-Profit organisation with a team of more than 130 experienced practitioners from many cultures and we provide out-of-home care to Young People aged between 6-17 and we’re continuing to grow. We operate a licenced Not-for-Profit service and have developed our own therapeutic framework to help create and support change in Young People who have suffered serious trauma. Our homes where these children live, are on rural properties and they include animals and engagement with nature in our daily programs. We value connection and engagement over the use of technology within all our homes and are committed to helping our Young People and their families heal and move forward.

The role
The Senior Team Leader role is a dynamic role where you will support the Area Manager with the day-to-day tasks and support of Team Leaders who are supporting Young People in out-of-home care within our therapeutic, acreage/rural-based properties, technology-reduced model of care.
This is a permanent full-time role which requires you to be available general business hours Monday to Friday. A requirement for this role will also be the availability for travel to our Stanthorpe region up to 2 days per week, a company vehicle will be provided for travel. You will also be required to be available to an occasional weekend on-call phone support to your area (rotating roster) and the possibility of filling shifts within the home as a last resort.
As a Senior Team Leader you will be responsible for the delivery of care services to our Young People in a home environment through the provision and management of a team of Team Members and Team Leaders, supporting Young People with challenging, maladaptive behaviours to achieve social, educational, cultural, and emotional goals and to liaise effectively with stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes and transitional goals.
Our goal is to teach Young People new coping strategies, new pro-social behaviours to transition them to a forever home.
Roles under the supervision of the Area Manager;
Manage Relationships
- Develop relationships with Senior Department staff responsible for Child Protection
- Foster and maintain external relationships vital to the provision of quality care for our young people
- Actively promote our services to Departments, strong networking skills
- Communicate with Departments about service delivery
- Customer research and identification of unmet needs within your area to provide further services/growth
Human Resources Management
- Oversee recruitment and selection of Team Members for your area
- Coach, supervise, guide, and support Team
- Coordinate allocation of Team Members between Homes
- Facilitate monthly all of the Team meetings, discussions, and training
- Inspire achievement and high performance
- Address performance issues with Team leaders
Financial, Property & Asset Management
- Set and review household budgets for each property
- Set and review the hours for delivery of each property
- Ensure equipment and assets are to a high standard, including adequate resources available to young people and teams
- Rent and furnish properties, liaise with real estate agents
Reporting
- Review and respond to Licensing Standards and feedback from Departments
- Review and respond to Audits from the Quality and Systems Officer
- Participate in monthly supervision and development meetings with the Chief Operations Officer, attend and report to the Board as requested.
- Oversee reporting of Critical Information to Departments
Other duties
- Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job
- Participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training
- Undertake such other duties, training, and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role
- Undertake health and safety duties as detailed in the Family Centered Support Services Health and Safety Policy
- Demonstrated ability to embed TCI across the team and satisfy trainers they had a high level of understanding of TCI
- Demonstrated ability to fill the roles of a Team Leader across more than one placement, supervising multiple team members/STMs. Placement houses would consist of single or multiple placements
- Compliance across all placement properties they supervised in a previous role
- Demonstrated ability to the roster within budgeted hours
- Hold an industry qualification at a minimum Diploma level and be enrolled and studying a leadership qualification
- Participated in recruitment
- Excellent knowledge of WHS requirements
- Plan and conduct all team meetings
- Demonstrated ability to work professionally with stakeholders
Essential requirements
*First week of interviews will be conducted between Monday 31st July and Friday 4th August
*Second week of interviews will be conducted between Monday 21st August and Friday 25th August
- Open and current Australian Drivers Licence
- Significant experience working directly with children and their families in a support capacity
- Experience working with children with complex and challenging needs and behaviours
- Be able to prioritise and work under pressure to specific timeframes and targets
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supporting a team in a management role
- Have the ability and flexibility to meet the needs of the organisation
- Obtained minimum Diploma in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent and obtained or actively studying minimum Cert IV in a leadership qualification
- Approved Licenced Care Service (LSC) check through the department, or willingness to obtain
- Current Blue Card
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including documentation, organisational and reporting
- High-level computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Provide two recent professional references
Desirable attributes
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Previous Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training
- Completed Hope & Healing modules
- Current Licenced Care Service (LCS) check through The Department
- Flexible, adaptive, and open to learning
